- 1er et 2ème jour de la Convention: Dimanche 15 et Lundi 16 Juin -



Dimanche 15 Juin à 13h, j'ai pu assister à la première séance plénière d'ouverture. Je dois dire que ce moment a été très intense. Je ne sais pas combien de personnes étaient présentes dans l'immense salle du West Hall, mais ce fût très impressionnant. La cérémonie des drapeaux a été particulièrement intéressante.




Ont défilé les drapeaux des 168 pays où le Rotary est présent. À cette occasion, plusieurs personnes telles que Mickael K. McGovern, vice-président du Rotary ainsi que Wilfrid J. Wilkinson, Président du Rotary ont pris la parole. La cérémonie s'est terminée par un spectacle donné par le Canadian Brass et All-American Boys Choir.

À 16h, j'ai pu assister à la Réception Paul Harris Fellows avec mes amis Benedikt et Silke Brydern, Don Radel et la magnifique Vicki Radel avec son ami Peter Lattey.


Lundi 16 Juin, il y a eu de nombreux ateliers organisés entre 14h et 16h30. Ceux-ci traitaient de sujets tels que l'adoption, d'éthique, de santé, d'alphabétisation, du don du sang, du Rotaract etc.

À 16h30, il y a eu le Cocktail Francophone organisé par les Gouverneurs et le magazine Le Rotarien, Présidé par Alain Marulier.



De nombreux Rotariens du monde Francophone étaient présents. La France bien sur, mais aussi des pays comme le Congo ou le Nigéria par exemple. J'ai pu rencontrer et remercier à cette occasion mon Gouverneur du District 1700: André Marty.

Le soir, j'ai été invité par Benedikt Brydern, mon parrain du Rotary Club d'Hollywood à la soirée du Club d'Hollywood qui recevait à cette occasion des Rotariens d'Italie. La soirée a été très intéressante car j'ai pu revoir de nombreuses personnes que je n'avait pas revu depuis mon départ en Mars 2006.
Le Gouverneur du District David G. Moyers et sa femme étaient présents.
Rica Van Ausdall, la présidente a très bien animé la soirée et celle-ci fût très intéressante.

- Convention's Day 1st and 2nd: Sunday 15th and Monday 16th -

On Sunday 15th at 1:00 p.m, I could assist at the First Opening Plenary Session. This moment was very intense. I don't know how many people were present in the huge West Hall but I was very impressed. The Flags Ceremony was particularly interesting.

168 flags from 168 countries where the Rotary is present have paraded. Some people like Mickael K. McGovern, Rotary vice-president and as well President Wilfrid J. Wilkinson made a speech. The ceremony ended with the Canadian Brass et All-American Boys Choir's show.

At 4:00 p.m, I could assist at the Paul Harris Fellows Reception with some friends: Benedikt and Silke Brydern, Don Radel and the wonderful Vicki Radel with her boyfriend Peter Lattey.


On Monday 16th, a lot of workshops about adoption, ethics, health, elimination of illiteracy, blood donation, Rotaract etc. were organized between 2:00 p.m and 4:30 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m, the Governors and the magazine Le Rotarien organized the free "Cocktail Francophone".
Many Rotarians from the French-Speaking world were there. France of course, but as well Congo or Nigéria for instance.
I coud have meet at this occasion my Governor from District 1700: André Marty.

On the evening, I was invited by my host councelor from Rotary of Hollywood Benedikt Brydern, at the evening party. The club invited many Italian people for the Convention. It was very interesting for me because I could have talk to some Rotarians from the Hollywood Club I haven't seen since my departure on March 2006.
2007-2008 District Governor David G. Moyers and his wife were present.
President Rica Van Ausdall took care of everybody and the party was really friendly.

Il y a quelques mois, j'ai reçu un courrier de la Fondation qui me demandait si je voulais assister à la 99ème Convention Annuelle du Rotary.
Grand changement cette année: il a eu la première Convention des Boursiers du Rotary!

Grâce à l'aide financière de mon club parrain (Castelnaudary) et de celle du District 1700, j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir assister à la Pré-Convention ainsi qu'à la Convention qui se déroulaient du 13 au 19 juin 2008.



Voici le résumé des séances auxquelles j'ai assisté afin que les boursiers qui n'ont pas eu la chance d'aller à L.A. puisse savoir ce qu'il s'est dit:

1er et 2ème Jour:

Vendredi 13 et Samedi 14 Juin:
La pré-convention.

Je dois dire que le Convention Center de Los Angeles est très impressionnant!! C'est un bâtiment énorme qui a accueilli 25000 Rotariens sous son toit.

Le Vendredi, je me suis rendu à 11h30 au Lunch du Colloque International. Le hasard a fait que je me suis retrouvé à la même table que Serge Gouteyron et Philippe Lamoise, deux sympathiques membres d'origine Française très impliquées dans le Rotary.

Puis, à 14h30 a eu la première Session Plénière des Anciens de la Fondation, présidée par Ray Klinginsmith, président des Boursiers de la Fondation et lui-même ex-boursier en 1960-61.
Il y a eu beaucoup d'humour lors de ces sessions. Aussi bien de la part des responsables du Rotary que des intervenants.



Les responsables Rotariens qui sont intervenus sont par exemple Wilfrid J. Wilkinson, le Président du Rotary 2008-2009; John Kenny, le Président du Rotary 2009-2010, Rodney Mazinter, le Coordinateur General des Boursiers de la Fondation, l'Ambassadeur des U.S. Philip Lader, ainsi que de nombreux autres...
Les intervenants ont été pour la plupart d'anciens boursiers devenus ou non Rotariens, qui comme moi ont eu la chance d'avoir été choisi par le Rotary et qui ont pu devenir une personne différente grâce à la Fondation.
Ils ont pu témoigner comment le Rotary a changé leur vie et comment eux-même ont pu faire profiter de leur expérience en tant qu'ancien boursier au Rotary et aux autres.
Rappelons que les programmes de bourses du Rotary ont permis depuis 1947 à 39000 hommes et femmes de presque 200 nations de pouvoir poursuivre plus loin leurs études et promouvoir ainsi des relations amicales avec les peuples de différents pays.

Voici un bref résumé de ce qu'il s'est dit ces 2 jours de pré-convention:
- les mots "Paix", "Tolérance", "Respect" ont été les plus prononcés par les intervenants.
- Chacun a dit que le Rotary était à la fois une organisation mais aussi un état d'esprit.
- Bilan du programme d'éradication de la Polio baptisé "End Polio Now" qui s'achevera en 2010. La polio va disparaitre de la planète grâce à la Fondation. La maladie reste a être éradiquée en Inde et au Nigeria. La Fondation se donne jusqu'à 2010 pour y parvenir.



- un intervenant remarquable, Sanford J. Ungar (Diplomé d'Harvard, Journaliste au Washington Post, auteur et président du Goucher College) a même proposé que le Rotary International obtienne le prix Nobel de la paix, ce qui me parait etre une excellente idée.
- Le Rotary voudrait que ses anciens Boursiers aillent plus loin et ne restent pas seulement que des anciens boursiers. L'âge moyen des Rotariens augmente et le Rotary a besoin de sang neuf. L'organisation a besoin que les anciens boursiers s'impliquent dans l'organisation.
Pour le Rotary, le problème est de savoir comment ces boursiers puissent rester en contact avec la Fondation: soit par le Rotaract, soit en devenant un Rotarien.

Je pense personnellement m'y inscrire car cela correspond plus à mes heures de travail qui changent constamment.

Le soir, nous sommes allés au club The Edison, dans Downtown L.A. avec la délégation des boursiers d'Allemagne. Soirée très sympa.

On Friday, I went to the International Symposium's Luncheon. I was lucky to eat with Serge Gouteyron and Philippe Lamoise, two nice members from France and very involved in the Rotary.

The 1st Plenary Session was at 2:30 p.m., and Alumni's president Ray Klinginsmith took the chair. He was himself Ambassadorial Scholar in 1960-61.
There was a lot of humor in these sessions.

President 2008-2009 Wilfrid J. Wilkinson; President 2009-2010 John Kenny, Alumni General Coordonator Rodney Mazinter, U.S. Ambassador Philip Lader, and many others took the microphone...
Most of the speakers were ambassadorial scholars and became or not Rotarians. They talked about their experience and how Rotary has changed their lifes. They attested how they were also lucky to have been chosen by the Foundation and how they became a different person after such a great experience thanks to scholarships programs.
Since the start, nearly 39,000 men and women from almost 200 nations have taken advantage of this scholarship to further their education and to promote friendly relations among people of different countries.

Here is a short resumé of the pre-convention:
- words "Peace", "Tolerance", "Respect" were the most pronounced by the talkers.
- Each of them said that the Rotary is both an organisation and a spirit.
- Checkup of the program "End Polio Now". Polio will disappear at 100% of the planet thanks to the Foundation. Polio still exists only in few areas in India and in Nigeria, but the Foundation will eradicate it before 2010.

- a remarkable talker, Sanford J. Ungar (journalist, author, and current president of Goucher College; he earned a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University and a master's degree from the London School of Economics. He has been a correspondent for United Press International, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and The Economist) proposed that Rotary International obtains the Nobel Peace Prize. I find this idea excellent!
- Rotary would like that ex Ambassadorial Scholars become Rotarians. The age average of the Rotarians is becoming on the upgrade and Rotary needs new blood in order that the new generation involves itself into the Organization.
For the Rotary, the problem is to know how these AS could stay in touch with the Foundation: by the Rotaract, or in becoming a Rotarian.

As far as I'm concerned, I think I will choose this alternative because of my time schedule which changes all the time and.

On the evening, we went to Downtown L.A. in a club: The Edison, with the german Ambassadorial Scholars. It was a very nice evening.

Back To France on May 2008/Retour en france en Mai 2008

Apres plusieurs mois au Quebec, je suis de retour en France pour 15 jours de vacances.
Cela m' a permis de revoir ma famille et amis, ainsi que les membres du Club de Castelnaudary.

Jacques Dutouya, le president du club m' a gentiment invite au Restaurant '' Hotel De France".
J'y suis alle avec mon ami Julien Duthu qui vient de sortir son deuxieme album intitule ''Two'' avec le label Nocturnes en compagnie de Remi Panossian.

On a joue en duo et on a fait une presentation improvisee qui je pense, a plu aux membres du club.

Julien a presenté sa contrebasse et a eclairé un peu notre connaissance de cet instrument un peu meconnu.
Quant a moi, j'avais apporte une caisse claire ''Luka'' faite par le luthier Quebecois Yves Coulombe. Celle-ci a la particularite d'etre en bois massif.

Tout s'est passe dans une tres bonne ambiance, comme d'habitude.

After few months in Quebec, I'm back in for 15 days.
I could have seen my family and friends, and also the Castenaudary's Club Members.

Jacques Dutouya, the president of the club invited me at the Restaurant '' Hotel De France".
I went there with my friend Julien Duthu. Julien just have made his 2nd jazz album:''Two'', with the label Nocturnes
. My other friend Remi Panossianis playing piano on the album.

Julien and I have played together and I think the members of the club enjoyed our presentation.

Julien talked about his almost unknown instrument: Double bass.
As far as I'm concerned, I played on a snare drum ''Luka'' made by luthier Quebecois Yves Coulombe. The interesting thing is that the snare is a one-piece wood.

Everything was doing well in a very good ambiance.

Retour en France pour Noel / Back to France for Christmas

De retour en France pour les vacances de Noel!
Apres 6 mois a Montreal, Canada ou je vis, je suis en France pour les fetes de fin d annee.
Patrice Vic et Jean-Louis Comet du club de Montpellier m ont gentiment invite a participer au repas de fin d annee.
Tres bonne ambience dans ce club qui reside a l Hotel Holiday Inn Métropole.
G. Sorel, le President, m avait demande d amener ma batterie. J ai donc pu expliquer aux membres du club ce que j ai fait lors de mon sejour aux USA grace a la bourse de la Fondation et j ai joue quelques solos lors de cette soiree.

Retour en France pour quelques jours / Back to France for dew days

Je me suis octroyé quelques jours de repos en France. Merci à mes parents, ma famille et mes amis pour ces jours excellents qu'ils m'ont fait passer. Ca a vraiment été sympa.
J'en ai profité pour aller faire un petit exposé à mon club sponsor de Castelnaudary. L'accueil des membres du club a été formidable. Cela a été un plaisir d'etre en leur compagnie! J'en ai profité pour donner à Philippe, le President, le fagnon du Club d'Hollywood. Malheureusement, j'ai oublié mon appareil photo ce jour la et il n'y a eu aucume image pour immortaliser le moment!!
En revanche, je sais pas si c'est moi mais j'ai trouvé que les gens étaient un peu sur les nerfs la-bas. Il faut dire que l'Etat Francais ne fait rien pour arranger les choses. Quand on voit le prix de l'essence a la pompe (en moyenne 1.40 euros/litre = 1.79 $US/litre ou 2$CAD/litre), qu'il faut depenser 10 euros pour rouler 1h 1/4 sur l'autoroute et que les gens qui veulent acheter un T3 a Toulouse s'endettent pour 35 ans maintenant, quelque chose me dit que la situation n'est pas prete de s'ameliorer!...
La France est un si beau pays... quel dommage qu'une bande d'incapables et d'incompétents technocrates-carrieristes la dirige depuis plus de 30 ans...
On a fete mon anniversaire le dimanche 28 mai chez mes parents. Les jolies mamans (ou futures) avaient fait des cakes et des quiches et les autres avaient amené du vin... Beaucoup de monde est venu, de loin voire de tres loin meme! En effet mes colocs de L.A., Jenni et Alexis etaient presents ce jour!
J'ai meme été embauché 5 fois au cours du séjour. Ca a été cool de rejouer avec les copains ou d'assiter à leur concert. Leur niveau instrumental a décollé en 1 ou 2 ans. Ca fait vraiment plaisir d'avoir des amis musiciens si talentueux!
Je reviens a Toulouse pour Noel du 11 au 25 decembre. Entre temps, l'été s'annonce super a Montréal. J'ai meme été invité le 5 juin par Maurice Bissada, le president du club St Laurent - Mont Royal a faire une presentation. Encore la, l'accueil fur tres chaleureux!!...

After all these events, I flew back to France for few days. Thank you all my parents, family and friends for all these sympathetic days! It was very nice!
I also did a presentation to my sponsor club Castelnaudary where I received a very warm welcome. It was a real pleasure to be there! I gave to Philippe, the President of the club, the Hollywood's flag. (Please Ferris or Benedikt, can you send me another one!?...) Unfortunately, I forgot my camera this day and I have no picture of the event!... Too bad!
Otherwise, I don't know if it's me but I found the French people stressed. Maybe because of the french government's racket? When you see the prices of the gaz there (average of 1.40 euros/litre = 1.79 $US/litre or 2$CAD/litre), that you must pay 10 euros for only driving 1h 1/4 on the highway and the people who want to buy a condo (2 bedrooms) in Toulouse run into debt for 35 years now, something tells me that the situation will be worst and worst!... Riots? Have you said riots?...
France is such a beautiful country... too bad that a gang of incompetents technocrats manage the country for more than 30 years...
We celebrated my birthday on Sunday May 28th. The beautiful moms (and futures) made some quiches and some cakes. Others brang some wine... A lot of people came. Sometimes from far, very far away, like my L.A.'s housemates Jennifer and Alexis!!! Isn't it incredible!?
I had 5 gigs during my stay. It was great to play with my old friends. Their instrumental level grew up. It is so nice to have so many talented friends.
I will come back to Toulouse for Christmas time, between December 11th and 25th. For the moment, summertime is great in Montreal!!
On June 5th, I was invited by Maurice Bissada, the president of the club St Laurent - Mont Royal to do a presentation. (photo) And again, I had a very warm welcome too!!...

Ma premiere invitée à Montreal / My first guest in Montreal

Ce week end, Vicki Radel est venue a Montreal accompagnée de son amie Lorie. Ca a été tres sympa de la voir. On s'est bien amusé et on en a profité pour visiter un peu Montréal ensemble.
Vicki est la premiere de mes amis de Los Angeles a venir me rendre visite. Alors, qui sera le prochain?

Last week end, Vicki Radel came in Montreal with her friend Lorie. It was very sympathetic to be together in Montreal! We visit the town together. Vicki is the first of my friend who live in los Angeles to visit myself... who's next?

Voilà, c'est fini... / It is the end...

Voilà, c'est fini. Ca a été une grande experience de vivre 7 mois en Californie! Tout le monde devrait faire ça au moins une fois dans sa vie. Je suis tres conscient que tout cela a été possible grace au Rotary et aux Rotariens. Cela a changé ma facon de penser pour le reste de ma vie et je sais que je n'aurai plus la meme vision du monde apres cela. Cette experience m'a definitivement ouvert l'esprit.

L'une des raisons pour laquelle j'ai appliqué aux bourses d'études était de pratiquer la musique Fusion... cela a été fait, en partie grace a Jeff Richman, mon prof de fusion au M.I.!!
Meme si j'ai beaucoup appris au Musicians Institute, mon experience n'a pas été que musicale, mais aussi et surtout une experience humaine. Cela a été un echange fort d'idée et de culture, pas seulement Américaine, mais aussi des 5 continents.

Je pense que l'impact que j'ai eu en tant que boursier aux Etats-Unis a été bon. J'ai expliqué à chaque fois la raison pour laquelle j'étais la. Je pense qu'etre un ambassadeur de bonne volonté est un role tres important. je l'ai pris le plus au serieux possible. Les boursiers ont une grande responsabilité: ils sont les representants d'un pays, d'une culture specifique, et representent parfois un symbole... Ils doivent absolument laisser pas une bonne impression.

De plus, j'ai pu constater combien certaines personnes investissent leur temps pour les autres. La plupart des Rotariens que j'ai vu, en particulier Debbie and Ferris Wehbe, m'ont montré qu'ils ne font pas uniquement parler mais AGISSENT! Ils ne prennent pas le chemin le plus facile, certains sont des leaders et montrent le chemin aux autres. J'espere pouvoir en faire de meme, c'est la raison pour laquelle je veux partir distribuer des instruments de musique aux enfants d'Afrique.

L'Académie de musique ou j'ai etudié (Musicians Institute) est une institution fameuse. La plupart des enseignants sont excellents.
De plus, j'ai pu assister à de nombreux concerts et Master-Calsses au M.I.! Parfois 2 ou 3 dans la meme semaine!
L'un des gros avantage au Musicians Institute est que des étudiants du monde entier se rencontrent. Dorénavant, j'ai des amis de partout: Europe, Amerique du nord et Sud, Asie, Indonesie... J'ai également pu créer des liens amicaux tres solides avec certains boursiers et Rotariens eux-meme.
Partout et avec tout le monde, j'ai recu un accueil chaleureux!

J'ai été surpris de la notoriété du Rotary. En revanche, si le nom de l'association est connue, les gens sont pour la plupart incapables d'en donner son but. J'ai également été surpris de la réaction des Rotariens eux-meme car bon nombre d'entre eux ne connaissaient pas les programmes de bourses. Il a donc été important que je fasse quelques présentations dans des clubs à mon avis.

Meme si le matériel de préparation de la Fondation m'a beaucoup aidé, je peux dire aux futurs boursiers qu'ils devraient toujours garder à l'esprit de vivre comme une personne locale du pays ou ils se trouvent. Par exemple, s'ils sont aux USA, ils doivent vivre comme un américain et éviter les comparaisons avec leur pays d'origine. J'ai pu voir tant de personnes etre "triste" de ne pas pouvoir consommer certains produits qu'ils utilisent d'habitude... c'est dommage.
L'une des meilleurs choses a faire est de vivre avec des gens du pays ou l'on se trouve, comme par exemple dans une famille ou en colocation. Je n'ai pas voulu prendre un appartement tout seul. Vivre dans une famille locale veut dire qu'on rencontre les amis et la famille des gens avec lesquels on vit, ce qui est formidable. On peut voir la reelle culture et le mode de vie de ces gens et etre immergé a 100% dans la culture du pays ou l'on se trouve.

Enfin, j'ai eu de la chance d'avoir eu comme parrain Benedikt Brydern. Il a fait du trés bon travail pour moi! Il a toujours répondu présent lorsque j’ai eu besoin de lui, et m’a beaucoup aidé tout au long de mon séjour. Je suis certain qu’il fera un très bon Président pour le Club d’Hollywood cette année.

It was a GREAT experience living in California for 7 months! Everybody should do that at least once in his life! Everything was possible graceful to the Rotary and the Rotarians, and I am very conscious of that!
It changed my thinking for the rest of my life and I know I won't have the same vision of the world after that. This experience definitely opened my mind a lot.

One of the most important goals of my staying was to practice the style of Fusion intensively… Graceful to my Fusion's teacher Jeff Richman, it has been achieve!
Even if I have learned many interesting things in Musicians Institute, my experience wasn't only a musical experience, but especially a people's meeting. It was a great exchange of ideas and culture, an understanding of the American and also many different cultures of almost all the 5 continents for me.

I think the impact I had as a Rotary scholar on the USA country, Rotary Clubs and District was good.
I explained every time I could the reason and the purpose why I was here. I think that being an Ambassadorial Scholarship is a role definitely very important. I took this the more serious I could. The Ambassadorial Scholarships have a big responsibility: they are ambassadors of a country, a specific culture, sometimes represent also a symbol,... They must let a good impression to the people.

Otherwise, I could see how some people can be so involved by helping other people. Most of the Rotarians I saw, and especially Debbie and Ferris Wehbe, showed me that they don't only speak, they DO! They don't choose the easy way, they are people who lead and show the way to others. I hope I will be able to be like them very soon, that's why I want to give to African children music instruments.

The music academy where I studied (Musicians Institute) is a very well known school. Most of the teachers are excellent.
Moreover, I could see a lot of great concerts and Master-Classes in M.I.! Sometimes, they were as many as 2 or 3 in one week!

One of the best things in Musician Institute is that the school attracts students from everywhere. Therefore, I have some friends from everywhere now: Europe, North and South America, Asia, Indonesia... Also, it is the same with the Rotary scholars, but the Rotarians themselves too.
Everywhere and with everybody: I had a warm welcome!

I was surprised how the Rotary is famous for the people. The name of the association is very well known, but unfortunately, the people couldn’t tell me exactly the goal of the Rotary. I was also surprised about the reactions of the Rotarians themselves. Many of them don’t know scholarships exist. Therefore, it is a good thing to do some presentations in different clubs.

Even if the materials and training that I received from the Foundation was perfect in order to prepare my staying, especially about the habits of the host country, the respect and the rules of politeness,... I can repeat to future scholars that they always must keep in mind to live like someone of their host country. For example, if they are in USA, they must live like an American and avoid the comparisons between their own country. I saw so many sad people for stupid reason like for instance because they couldn't find some products at the market they usually use... too bad!
One of the best things to do is to live with local people or in a local family.
I didn't want to live alone in a single apartment. Living in a family means meeting people like friends and family of your host family you couldn't meet if you were in a single apartment, to see the real culture and way of life of the local people, to be at 100% immersed in the culture of the country where you are.

I was also lucky because Benedikt Brydern, my host counselor, did a great job for me! He was always present when I needed him and helped me a lot during my stay in USA. I am sure he will be a very good president for the Hollywood Club this year.

Derniere semaine au M.I. et projet de Documentaire / Last week in M.I. and Documentary's project

Ca y est! c'est la fin!! La derniere semaine est arrivee!! Ca ete une TRES GRANDE experience de vivre ici pres de 7 mois!! Je le conseille a tout le monde! Tout cela n'aurait jamais ete possibe sans le Rotary et les Rotariens et j'en suis tres conscientJe me suis fait plein d'amis de partout sur la planete: Europe, Amerique du nord et du Sud, Asie... notamment avec les etudiants du M.I. et ceux du Rotary. Sans oublier surtout les membres du Rotary Club d'Hollywood, Ferris et Debbie, Benedikt et Silke...

Jeff a rearrange les chansons de Steely Dan d'une facon incroyable! Ce qui est cool c'est que j'ai joue ces arrangements avant les musiciens du CD, etant donne qu'il les amene en classe pour les tester avec nous!...

Et puis, cela m'a permis de faire egalement des projets. Marcus Nash, qui est le frere de ma colocataire et egalement realisateur de films et de documentaires, m'a propose de travailler sur un projet tres interressant avec lui! Ci-joint le lien de son dernier film:

Et de plus, ce projet rentre en plein dans le mille de la raison pour laquelle j'ai obtenu une bourse du Rotary!: le theme est "La Musique Apporte la Paix".

Ce documentaire sera une journee de decouverte et de comprehension de la musique a travers mes yeux, c'est a dire d'un musicien independant, curieux du monde qui l'entoure, et ayant sa propre philosophie de la musique . On commencera a Montreal pour montrer l'univers dans lequel je vis et j'evolue. Puis, nous ferons mon parcours inverse pour nous rendre en Europe. Dans chaque lieu traverse, je ferai des interviews des personnes locales, celebres ou non, musiciennes ou non. La premiere question que nous poserons a chacune des personnes interrogees sera "Comment la musique a-t-elle transformee votre vie?" Et ainsi, nous deboucherons vers une entrevue plus complete adaptee a chaque personne.

Les racines de la musique contemporaine, rock, jazz hip-hop etc... vennant d'Afrique, continent a la base de la musique et de l'humanite, notre histoire nous amenera donc vers la destination de cet enorme et mysterieux continent afin de montrer de facon honnete et peut etre parfois meme naive, la beaute et la culture de ce peuple, mais aussi les souffrances et l'oppression que nous serions amener a rencontrer. Si tout se deroule comme convenu et que nous reussissons a obtenir des fonds suffisants, le documentaire pourra peut-etre egalement continuer au Moyen-Orient, et plus precisement au Liban.

Cette journee de decouverte n'imposera jamais un point de vue politique ni meme religieux mais capturera des histoires personnelles qui apporteront au spectateur une comprehension de la perception de la musique dans differentes cultures que nous rencontrerons.

L'idee est aussi a caractere humanitaire, mais plus base sur le point de vue culturel. Nous essayerons d'apporter avec nous des instruments de musique afin de les donner a des associations locales, le but etant de promouvoir la musique, donc la paix.

It was a VERY good experience to live here for 7 months! Everybody should do that at least one time in his life! I have some friends from everywhere now!: Europe, North and South America, Asia...

Jeff is had recorded and produced a new Steely Dan tribute which is almost finished and includes a core band of Jimmy Haslip (Yellow Jackets) VInnie Colaiuta (Sting, Zappa) Ernie Watts and Keyboardist Peter Wolf with guitar performances by Al Dimeola, Robben Ford, Steve Lukather, Jay Graydon, Elliot Randall, Jimmy Herring, Frank Gambale and more.
The best is that I played all of these songs before the musicians who play on the cd because Jeff used to bring these arrangements in class to test them with us!!!

My staying here was very good to make also some projects! Marcus Nash, who is the brother of my roomate became a very good friend. Marcus is a director of commercials and is finishing his first movie: http://www.trippingforwardmovie.com (clic on http://www.trippingforwardmovie.com/TFTrailer.mov to see the trailer...) and proposed me to work on a documentary with him. The theme of the project is: "Music brings peace". This is incredible because it is at 100% the reason why I obtained the Rotary's scholarship!

This is one man’s journey of discovery.
The staff from L.A. will first meet me, as a French drummer, in my new home town of Montreal and begin to share in my life as a professional musician before I take the staff back to Europe where my passion for all styles of music began. Along the way we’ll meet some of my musician friends and contemporaries who will explain how music has truly impacted them and has helped break down some of the barriers they have been faced.
From Europe, we will travel to Africa, the origin of my music of choice.

In Africa we will see the beauty of the countries and its peoples shown alongside the abject poverty and suffering caused by decades of war and unrest.
We will travel to some of the remotest parts of this truly fascinating continent meeting some of its extraordinary people.
We’ll listen to their music, which in some cases truly emancipates both the musicians and those the music reaches.
We will meet some of those people who through their musical talents have not only entertained but have had a profound influence in the shaping of their people's culture in a way that legislation or political activism can not.

We will delve further into such stories [or similar] as: how music may have brought about a coup in the Ivory Coast; how in Zimbabwe the Zanu Freedom Fighters used songs as morale boosters and how the governments in some of these African countries have realised the strength in music and have subsequently banned many songs from radio stations.

The intent of this journey of discovery is to capture personal stories that give a true understanding of music in different cultures. It is not about making political or religious statements.

We hope to get to meet some of the success stories of those whose amazing talents have taken them from the war-ravaged villages of Africa to the modern metropolis of Europe and Northern America.

We will attempt to also secure interviews with some famous humanitarian leaders who have a particular interest in music.

If this documentary goes as planned we hope to then travel to the Middle East to continue this musician’s journey of discovery

Monies raised from marketing such interviews would be used to provide instruments to needy local associations encountered during the journey, always keeping in mind the promotion of music, and therefore peace.

2nd annual Redondo Beach Rotary Club Casino night Fundraiser

Samedi 4 Mars, j'ai ete invite par la magnifique Vicki Radel a la deuxieme nuit de collecte de fonds du club de Redondo Beach. Le mari de Vicki s'est egalement joint a nous. Cet evenement est tres important car il est la principale source de collecte de fonds pour l'annee 2006.
Cela a ete une nuit tres agreable. J'ai aussi pu rencontrer Genevieve kayat, une boursiere qui etudie a UCLA. Vicki nous a amene sur le quai de Redondo Beach. C'est vraiment un tres bel endroit.
On a egalement joue au craps mais malheureusement, on a tout perdu! Mais comme dit le proverbe: Malheureux au jeu, heureux en amour! :-)


On March 4th, I was invited by the wonderful Vicki Radel at the 2nd annual Redondo Beach Rotary Club Casino night Fundraiser. Her husband Steve came with us.
Her Club is quite big because there are around 65 members. This event was the primary source of funding for the dozens of charitable projects that the club in Redondo Beach will support throught 2006.
It was a very nice night. I have also met Genevieve Kayat, another scholar from Paris, France who is a student in UCLA. We took a walk with Vicki on the pier. it was very nice! We played at the Craps table but unfortunately we lost! :-( But as a French proverb says: unlucky at games, happy in love! :-)

Malibu / Beverly Hills

J'ai ete invite dans 2 clubs differents recemment: Malibu et Beverly Hills. Ca s'est tres bien passe.
J'avais rencontre Bill N. Wishard, un membre du Club de Malibu au Breakfast du District. Il m'avait gentiment demande si je pouvais faire une presentation un jour, j'ai bien sur accepte. A la fin de la presentation, Chris Bauman le president m'a offert le fanion du Club de Malibu.
Le campus est vraiment incroyablement beau mais assez loin de chez moi! J'ai donc dormi chez Benedikt Brydern, mon conseiller parrain qui habite Santa Monica afin de me rapprocher un peu de Malibu. J'ai pu sauver une bonne heure de sommeil...

Jerrie est une personne vraiment charmante et gentille qui a une place de presidente pas facile a tenir puisque le club compte beaucoup de membres. Il est assez dur de se faire entendre parfois, car la bonne humeur regne mais Jerrie s'en sort tres bien et se fait respecter. Mais apparemment, c'est dans les genes de la famille d'exceller puisque son fils Grant Heslov a ete nomine pour les Academy Awards pour son film "Good night and good luck"!! C'est un tres bon film, allez le voir si vous pouvez!
Jerrie m'a donne le fanion du club a la fin de mon discours.

I had met Bill N. Wishard from Malibu's club at the last District Breakfast. He asked me if I could do a presentation at this occasion and of course, I said yes. The Malibu's campus is incredibly beautiful but far away from my house. So, I slept at Benedikt Brydern's house at Santa Monica in order to save 1 hour of rest... Jerrie is a person very charming and very kind. She has the big responsability to be the president of a big club with a lot of members. It is sometimes difficult to speak in front of the audience because the atmosphere is very friendly and therefore a little noisy sometimes! But Jerrie is very good and everybody respects her when she needs the attention of the audience! Obviously, it's in the family genes to excel because her son Grant Heslov was nominated for the second time in his carrier for several Academy Awards for his movie "Good night and good luck". (it is a very good film! I watched it few weeks ago!)

District Breakfast Meeting - January 31, 2006

English Version Below...

Ce mardi 31 Janvier matin (tres tot) Ferris et Debbie sont venus me chercher pour assister au breakfast du District.
Woaw! Le breakfast s'est super bien passe! Il y avait dans les 500 personnes je pense a l'hotel Crowne plaza qui se situe tout pres de l'aeroport LAX.
Le consul General du Mexique etait present. Le maire de Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, tres inspire, a egalement donne un discours fort interressant a propos de sa fonction ainsi que sur les difficultes qu'il a rencontrees plus tot dans sa vie, car il vient d'une famille de l'immigration: c'est la qu'on s'apercoit que les mentalites evoluent... et tant mieux!!!
Et bien sur, le Gouverneur du District Ingo Werk a comme toujours brille par un discours toujours aussi intelligent et plein d'humour, tournant tres souvent autour de la Beatle mania!... quel orateur!
Vicki Radel a egalement profite de l'occasion pour presenter les boursiers presents dans l'assemblee. (merci Vicki!)
Tout s'est donc tres bien deroule... malheureusement, c'etait le dernier breakfast en ce qui me concerne... :-(


This (very early) Tuesday January 31st in the morning, Ferris & Debbie came to pick me up to assit at the District Breakfast.
Well!!! Everything was very nice! There were 500 people in the wonderful Crowne Plaza Hotel, close to LAX airport.
The Consul General de Mexico spoke about his country. The mayor Antonio Villaraigosa spoke full inspiration about his fonction and the difficulties he had when he was young because mayor Villaraigosa comes from immigration. Hopefully, we can see that the mentalities change!
And of Course, District Governor Ingo Werk did a wonderful and very smart speech (around Beatle Mania as usually...)... he is such a great speaker!.
Vicki Radel presented also the scholars who were present in the audience (thank you Vicki!)
Everything was great! undfortunatelyt, it was my last District breakfast!... :-(

Texas!

Le week end dernier, j'ai ete invite par George Nash, le pere de Jennifer ma colocataire. George vit a San Antonio, Texas.
Marcus le frere de Jennifer qui vit a L.A. m'a accompagne.
Quand on arrive a l'aeroport de San Antonio, on sait tout de suite qu'on est au Texas. Ici, pas mas de gens portent le Stenson, chapeau de cowboy bien connu, et ce n'est vraiment pas pour epater les touristes, c'est comme ca tous les jours!
Ce qui est bien de connaitre les locaux quand on voyage, c'est qu'on ne perd pas de temps a chercher quoi voir dans les guides touristiques.
George nous a fait decouvrir pleins d'endroits fabuleux, comme par exemple le centre-ville de San Antonio qui est vraiment tres beau! Ou bien le superbe theatre de San Antonio (je n'avais jamais vu un theatre comme celui la avant!)
Balade en bateau sur les canaux de la charmante et romantique San Antonio's river, l'ambiance de la ville est tres chaleureuse...

Il nous a aussi emmener avec Jane (son amie) au club de jazz "The Landing".

Le proprietaire du club est le cornettiste Jim Cullum, qui n'est autre que le cousin de George! Jim a ce club depuis plus de 43 ans et joue 6 jours par semaine avec 6 autres musiciens (trombone, clarinette, banjo/guitare, piano, contrebasse et batterie) chacun des musiciens joue vraiment tres bien et sonne vraiment dans le plus pur style jazz. On peut dire que le groupe entier est incroyablement homogene, ce qui pourrait sembler normal vu le nombre d'heures passees a jouer ensembles depuis si longtemps. J'ai meme eu la chance de jouer avec eux pendant trois morceaux. Jim a eu la gentillesse de me faire monter sur scene et de prendre le siege du batteur pour quelques instants, histoire de mettre en pratique ce que j'apprends en classe au M.I. en sorte. Mais la bonne nouvelle est que Jim m'a telephone lundi pour me demander si cela m'interresserait de jouer avec eux dans des festivals cet ete car leur batteur ne pourrait peut etre pas assurer quelques dates... soiree tres tres benefique pour moi en resume!

Le lendemain, on a rejoint Robert, le frere de Marcus (et fils de George) a Austin, une ville tres dynamique qui se trouve
a environ 1h 1/4 de San Antonio. Robert a une tres belle maison avec une vue splendide sur Austin Downtown. On a meme assiste au grand carnaval d'Austin. Tout le monde ou presque etait deguise, meme nous car Robert nous avait prete des costumes! Ca a ete vraiment incroyable de voir que tout le monde jouait le jeu. Un grand orchestre Cubain a anime la soiree!

On est repatit a San Antonio pour prendre l'avion. On a dit au revoir a George et a Jim (ils habitent a cote l'un de l'autre)
Juste avant de partir, George nous a emmene au fameux Fort Alamo. Impressionnant tout de meme. Le fort est unje batisse
assez petite en fait, mais bon nombre d'objets sont conserves a l'interieur comme par exemple le carnet de David Crockett ainsi que de vieilles armes... interressant.


Le lundi soir, Debbie Wehbbe, la femme du president du Rotary Club d'Hollywood m'a invite au concert du groupe "Fugees". Les rues etaient barrees car le concert se deroulait en plein air sur Hollywood blvd, a l'intersection de Vine.
il y avait beaucoup de monde, ca a ete vraiment tres sympa de sa part de m'inviter.



The last week end, I was invited by George Nash who is Jennifer's father, my housemate. George lives in San Antonio, Texas. Jennifer's brother Marcus who lives in L.A. came with me.
When we arrive at the San Antonio's airport, we know ecactly that we are in Texas. A lot of people wear Stenson, the famous cowboy's hat. And it is not only for the tourists, it is like that everyday!
When we know the people of the area, we safe time because we do not have to search in touristic books. George showed us wonderful places, like for example the pretty San Antonio's Downtown, and the WONDERFUL San Antonio Theater! (I haden't seen such a nice theater before!) Also, little cruise on charming and romantic San Antonio's river. The atmosphere of the town is really warm.
We went also with George's gilfriend Jane at the jazz club "The Landing".

The owner of the club is the cornet player Jim Cullum, who is George's cousin! Jim is the owner of the club for more than 43 years
and plays 6 days a week with 6 others musicians (trombon, clarinet, banjo/guitar, piano, doublebass and drums) Each musician plays very well and sound great in the pur style jazz. We can say that all the band is incredibly homogen. I was lucky because Jim had the kindness to invit me to play with the band for 3 songs. It was a kind of practice time after the M.I.'s class in fact! But the very good news is that Jim called me on Monday to ask me if I could play with the band in some festivals this summer in case the drummer couldn't do the job. To resume, it was a very benefic evening for me!

The day after, we went to meet Robert, Marcus' s brother (and also George's son) in Austin, a very dynamic town, not far away from San Antonio. (about 1 hour and 15 minutes) Robert lives in a very pretty house with a splendid view on Austin Downtown. We also went to Austin's carnival. Everybody had wonderful costumes, even us because Robert leaded us some clothes! It was an amazing night. A great cuban orchestra played for the occasion.

We came back to San Antonio to take our plane. We said good bye to George and to Jim (they live very close together). Just before leaving, George picked us up to visit the famous Fort Alamo. I was impressed, even if the fort is not a big building, but a lot of things from this time like for instance David Crockett's book and some old weapons are conserved... interresting.

On the Monday evening, Debbie Wehbbe, who is the wife of the Hollywood Rotary Club's president, invited me at the concert of the band "Fugees". The streets were closed for this event because the show was outdoor, right at the intersection of Hollywood blvd, at Vine. There were a lot of peoplke, it was very interesting and very kind from Debbie & Ferris for inviting me. (as always!!!)

Le/The NAMM Show

INCROYABLE!!!!!!!!!
A croire que tous les meilleurs musiciens de la planete s'etaient donne rendez-vous ce week-end au NAMM show.
Ca a ete geant! Y'a vraiment pas d'autre mot! Le NAMM show est un salon de la musique mais uniquement pour les professionnels de l'industrie de la musique. Ce n'est donc pas ouvert au public. Mais grace a Jean-Marc, le patron de "Drum Bazar", le magasin de musique ou j'enseignais a Montreal l'an dernier (http://www.drumbazar.qc.ca)
j'ai pu assister a ce grand evenement.
Ce serait plus simple de vous dire qui il n'y avait PAS. Que ce soit des musiciens, des rockstars, des presidents de compagnies, et parfois meme des acteurs d'Hollywood (photo de Kiefer Sutherland au Stand des guitares Gibson). Je vais donc surtout vous parler de ce qui m'a le plus interresse, c'est a dire les batteurs car...j'en suis un! (du moins je fais mon possible pour le devenir...)

Pour resumer un peu, j'ai mis presque 2h pour arriver au Convention Center a Anaheim, qui se trouve etre a peine a 32 miles de Hollywood, (environ 50 kms). Oui, il y avait du monde! Pas de chance, le Convention Center ou se trouvait le salon est de l'autre cote de la rue du Walt Disney Land, ce qui fait que les parkings etaient pleins a craquer des 2 bords et que je me suis garer a environ 25 minutes a pied
de la porte d'entree du Centre d'exposition. Mais ca en valait la peine, croyez moi!!

C'est grand, tres grand meme le Convention Center! C'est en fait le 2eme plus gros salon de la musique au monde apres Frankfurt en Allemagne... Et la, j'ai rejoint Jean-Marc et Robert de Drum Bazar. (photo) Ca m'a fait du bien d'entendre l'accent quebecois ces 2 jours.
On s'est donc pas mal promene dans les stands des exposants, a regarder toutes les nouveautes et assistant parfois a des Master-Classes inouies de batteurs comme Kenny Aronoff par exemple http://www.kennyaronoff.com/Discography.htm
Puis, le soir, on a ete invite par le fabricant de batteries "Mapex" a aller ecouter les "Neville Brothers" au House of Blues de Anaheim.
Ca a vraiment ete super! Ces gars la ont vraiment la musique dans la peau!
Je suis rester dormir sur place avec mes 2 amis et on est retourne au Convention Center le lendemain matin, dimanche.

Et la, 2 minutes apres avoir mis un pied sur le tapis du Centre, j'apercois Steve Gadd assis aux cotes de batteurs non moins celebres au Stand Yamaha.
Ca fait plaisir, il se rappelait meme tres bien qu'on s'etait vu l'an dernier, lors du jour de l'an au Quebec, marrant... Il a ete vraiment super gentil, quel grand Monsieur!

La journee s'est bien passee. On a vadrouille entre les stands apercevant parfois au passage les Peter Erskine, Ricki Latham, Simon Philips (Toto), Thomas Lang, Dave Weckl, David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) & co. Et je suis retourne a Hollywood le soir meme.
Je vais m'en rappeller longtemps du NAMM Show!

Hier a midi, j'ai ete au lunch de mon Rotary Club. Il y a eu une tres interressante presentation de l'association ecologique Heal de Bay.

Et ce matin, mercredi 25 janvier, je suis sorti de classe au M.I. vers 11h00 et je suis tombe nez a nez avec Tommy Lee, le batteur du groupe MÖTLEY CRÜE!! marrant... Le groupe est venu faire un petit tour au M.I. car ils viennent d'obtenir une etoile sur le trottoir de hollywood Boulevard qui se trouve etre juste en face de la porte d'entree du M.I. ...

Maybe all the drummers of the world were this week-end at the NAMM show.
It was great! There is no other word! The NAMM is only for the profesionals of the music industry. It is not for the public.. but I was there! Because of Jean-Marc, the boss of "Drum Bazar", the drum shop where I used to teach in Montreal last year,(http://www.drumbazar.qc.ca),
I could assist at this great evenement.
It is easier to tell you who WASN'T present at the NAMM Show. Musicians, Rockstars, Presidents of Companies, and even sometimes Hollywood actors (photo of Kiefer Sutherland at Gibson's area). I will tell you about what had interested me the most: Drummers! Because I am one! (I hope so...)

To resume, I needed almost 2 hours to arrive at the Convention Center in Anaheim, whitch is about 32 miles from Hollywood, (50 kms). There were a lot of people! Bad luck for me, the Convention Center is just close to the Walt Disney Land, therefore, the parkings were full and I parked my car at about 25 minutes by walf from the main entrance!!!

The Convention Center is really huge! It is the 2nd biggest evenment of the world after Frankfurt in Germany... So I joined Jean-Marc and Robert from Drum Bazar. (photo) It was good to listen to the accent of the Quebec these 2 days.
We walked a lot in the corridors of the Center, watching at the new products and at some crazy Master-Classes like the one of Kenny Aronoff for exemple (http://www.kennyaronoff.com/Discography.htm)
On the evening, we were invited by the company "Mapex" to listen to the "Neville Brothers" at the House of Blues in Anaheim.
It was great! What a big groove!
I slept at the hotel with my 2 friends and we returned to the Convention Center on sunday.

On sunday, 2 minutes after I entered in the Center, I saw Steve Gadd close to others great drummers also very famous at the Yamaha area. I went in the line up and few minutes after, I could speek to Steve. It is awesome, he reminded me when I met him last year in a Quebec ski resort! Funny... He was very kind, he's such a great guy!

The day was very nice. We walked a lot between sometimes guys like Peter Erskine, Simon Philips (Toto), Thomas Lang, Dave Weckl, David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) & co.

And I returned to Hollywood on sunday evening to relax a little bit... A thing is clear: I will remind the NAMM Show for a very long time!

On Tuesday, I went to the lunch of my club, the Rotary Club of Hollywood, the most famous in the world (and maybe in the universe...)
There was a presentation by a member of the ecologic association Heal the Bay.
It was a very interesting presentation.

And this morning, Wednesday January 25th, I was in class in M.I. and I saw in the corridors Tommy lee, the drummer of the band MÖTLEY CRÜE!! funny... The band came to M.I. because it has a star on the Hollywood boulevard's sidewalk, just in front of the M.I. entrance!

Le 3 Janvier, j'ai fait une presentation pour mon club parrain. A cette occasion, Ferris Wehbbe, le president du club m'a remis le pin's du Rotary Club d'Hollywood. Ce pin's est en forme d'etoile, rappelant ainsi les fameuses stars qui sont sur les trottoirs d'Hollywood Blvd.
De retour au Musicians Institute après le winter break, j’en ai profite pour choisir d’autres cours. Etant en programme “Encore”, cela me permet d’avoir un pass partout dans l’ecole et de pouvoir assister a tous les cours et les Mater-classes supplementaires que je veux. Mais mon programme de base se deroule ainsi:

Lundi:
10h00: le cours s’appelle PERC RSW avec un batteur nomme Andy Magna. Il dure 1h. Ce cours nous apprend comment aborder le travail de studio, ce qui est vraiment tres interressant. Un bassiste et un guitariste assistent Andy. Ce sont 2 musiciens professionnelsqui jouent avec nous. Chaque eleve passe a tour de role pour jouer une chanson et a l’avis personnel d’Andy ainsi que des 2 assistants, ce qui est vraiment bien car chaque musicien peut avoir un feeling totalement different de celui du prof.
13h00: “from the streets to the success”. C’est un cours dispense par Bobby Borg, egalement professeur a UCLA et qui fait prendre conscience qu’il ne suffit pas d’etre un bon musicien pour reussir, il faut egalement savoir se vendre!… Extremement interressant.
14h00: “Reading technique”, ou comment lire une partition le plus vite et le plus efficacement possible! Le professeur s’appelle Gary Hess.
Mardi:
10h00: “Playing Technique”, avec Mr. Rob Carson. TRES TRES bon cours!!!! C’est LE maitre! Je n’ai jamais vu une technique pareille!!! Epoustouflant!!! Et super pedagogie en plus de ca! Genial!
17h00: “introduction a la guitare” J’apprends a jouer des accords. Interressant en ce qui concerne la composition et l’harmonie.
Mercredi:
10h00: De nouveau PERC RSW (voir plus haut). C’est le suivi du cours du lundi.
14h00: De nouveau “Reading technique”. C’est egalement le suivi du cours du lundi.
15h00 a 17h00: “Rock Drums”! Ou comment jouer dans l’esprit ROCK tout en conservant le groove. Le professeur a 2 assistants: un guitariste et un bassiste avec lesquels nous jouons. C’est le meme concept que le cours PERC RSW.
Jeudi:
10h00: De nouveau “Playing Technique”, avec Mr. Rob Carson. Rien dans l’apres-midi. Je peux pratiquer autant que je veux mon istrument.
Vendredi:
11h00: Chopbusters, avec Mr. Rob Carson. C’est en sorte le petit plus du cours “playing technique”. Dechiffrage et technique de poignets. Tres bien.
12h00 a 14h00: Ensemble “Fusion”. Pour resumer: c’est un atelier ou l’ on apprend des themes Fusion. Le professeur s’appelle Jeffrey Richman.
14h00: lesson privee avec Gary Garbatini.
17h00: “Funk Drums”. On apprend le vocabulaire batteristique des batteurs qui ont ecrit l’histoire du funk.

Et bien sur, entre les cours, je pratique mon instrument dans un local que je partage avec 3 autres etudiants.
Samedi et Dimanche: relache! Mais l’ecole est ouverte 24h/24h et 7 jours/7. Libre a moi de pratiquer ou non!...

Non, il n'a pas neige a Hollywood!!! En revanche, il a neige 42 cm de neige en une seule nuit a Montreal! A 1 cm pres, on battait le record du siecle!!
C'etait tres beau et j'ai eu des vacances de Noel superbes avec mes parents qui sont venus de France. (avec du chocolat et du vin en plus!)
Bref, apres ce petit "winter break" au Quebec, je suis revenu a Hollywood. Arrivee a l'aeroport a minuit moins le 1/4 le 1er Janvier, (encore merci Air Canada pour la ponctualite!) je suis alle au lit a 2h30 du matin... avec le chat qui n'a pas voulu me laisser dormir tranquille! Il m'a vraiment fait comprendre qu'il ne voulait pas dormir encore tout seul une nuit supplementaire! Il faut dire que tous mes colocataires etaient a New York depuis les fetes de Noel. Ils ne sont revenus que vers le 4 janvier pour la plupart d'entre eux. Le chat est donc reste seul tout ce temps dans cette grande maison et il etait plus que content de me voir, vous pouvez imaginer!! ... un vrai petit pot de colle!
Le lendemain, je n'ai pas pu aller au M.I. car il y a eu un deluge sur L.A. Incroyable! Certaines villes Californiennes sont totalement inondees! J'en ai profite pour travailler sur la presentation que je dois faire mardi midi pour le Rotary Club d'Hollywood.

Do not worry! There is no snow in Hollywood!!! But it was unbeleivable in Quebec! There were 42 centimeters of snow in only one night in Montreal! We almost broke the record of the 20th century!!
But it was very beautiful and I had a very nice Christmas time with my family. My parents came to visit us from France with a LOT of chocolate and wine!
Anyway, after this winter break in Quebec, I came back to Hollywood. I arrived at the airport at 12:45 a.m on January 1st (thanks to Air Canada for the punctuality!) I went to bed after 2:30 a.m... with the cat. It didn't want to let me sleep. Most of my housemates were in New york since Christmas day and I understood very well that the cat really didn't want to sleep alone one more night! It was a glue stick!!
The day after, I couldn't go to M.I. because it was like the Flood in L.A.!! Some Californian cities are totally swamped. It is like in Venecia!
