6eme jour: C'est le week-end. Le vendredi, les cours de langues finissent a 12h20.J'ai donc toute mon apres-midi de libre. Hier, j'ai ete au marche. (photo) Moi qui croyait que lespetits marches Montrelais etaient uniques en Amerique du nord, eh bien je me trompais! Santa Monica street etait barree entre 2nd street et 5th street. On se serait cru en France! Legumes, fruits et fromages de chevre! Plus le temps passe et plus je trouve que la Californie est vraiment differente des autres etats americains et de l'image que nous autres Europeens avons des Etats-Unis! Ici, les gens sont tres respectueux et avenants. Ca ressemble beaucoup au Quebec pour ca! Tout le monde parle avec tout le monde, y compris dans le bus ou au super marche, et il est rare de voir quelqu'un ne pas avoir le sourire, qu'il soit ouvrier mexicain ou businessman. Et puis, il flotte ici encore une petite odeur de la vague hyppie. Parfois, il m'arrive de croiser quelques specimens a Santa Monica et a Venice Beach. (photo) Ils se font de plus en plus rares de nos jours... Leurs cheveux sont toujours longs, mais helas, le blond a vire au blanc! En revanche, les tatouages et les habits n'ont pas decolores... Et puis, il y a toujours l'esprit des Doors et de Jim Morrison. Le groupe avait elu domicile a Venice Beach, a quelques rues de chez moi.Et malgre les annees, ils restent tres populaires. Il y a meme une grande fresque a Venice representant les Doors.

6th day: It is the weekend. On friday, the english lessons stop at 12:20 p.m. I am free all afternoon. Yesterday, I went to the market. (photo) I thought in north-America, the only place i could find such some tiny outdoor markets was only in Montreal... I was wrong! Santa Monica street was closed between 2nd street and 5th street. We could be in France! Vegetables, fruits and goat cheese! The most I am in California, the most I find that this state is different from the others states in America and from the idea I had about USA before to stay here, as many European people have. People are very respectful and really kind. It is like in Quebec actually. Everybody speaks to everybody, even in the bus or at the supermarket, and it is rare to see someone without a smile, businessman or laborer.
More, there is like an odor of Hippy's wave. Sometimes, I can see some old specimen in Santa Monica and in Venice Beach. Unfortunately, they satrt to be very rare now... Their hair still be long, but unfortunately, the blond is white now!... Fortunately, tatoos and clothes still have bright colors... "The Doors" and Jim Morrison spirit are also very present. The band used to stay in Venice Beach, at few streets from my home. In spite of the years, they are very popular. There is also a big picture of the famous band painted on a wall of Venice.
