1ere semaine au Musicians institute / 1st week at M.I.

Une chose est sure: c'est grand le M.I! Je continue a me perdre dans les couloirs, meme apres une semaine sur place. En plus de ca, je viens de decouvrir qu'il existait 3 annexes supplementaires! Le 1er jour, on a ete accueillit avec un concert du trio de Scott Henderson. http://www.scotthenderson.net/ Scott est prof au M.I. et guitariste. Il a notammenttravaille avec Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty et Joe Zawinul. Le prochain "grand evenement" est mercredi 19 octobre. Le guitariste Robben Ford http://www.robbenford.com/ sera en concert au M.I. accompagne du guitariste Mike Landau, Andrew Ford (bass) et de Gary Novak(drums) Les profs sont tres sympas et ils donnent beaucoup de travail, tant mieux, je suis la pour ca! Petite deception, le niveau est tres disparate et certains ne sont vraiment pas toujoursau top. C'est pas toujours facile de trouver des gars qui jouent au niveau pro, mais ce n'est pasgrave, l'important est de fournir un travail personnel constant et de qualite. En revanche, certainsetudiants sont vraiment tres forts et impressionnants!!! Sinon, les profs sont supers. Je travailleavec notamment Gary Garbatini en batterie et Carl Schroeder en jazz (arrangeur de Chick Corea)et plusieurs autres enseignants au C.V impressionant! Samedi dernier, il y avait Steve Gadd (photos) http://www.intrepidsoftware.com/gadd/news. qui a donne un Master-Class a West-Hollywood. Le show a vraiment ete excellent! Petite surprise, il y avait Marcus Miller (photo)dans l'assistance. http://www.marcusmiller.com/ Je risque de le rencontrer car l'une des meilleures amies de ma collocataire le connait tres bien! Hier (mercredi 12/10), j'ai passe un casting dans un studio d'Hollywood. Le Rotary veut faire une publicite et m'a demande si je voulais participer. J'ai repondu present... En tout cas, c'etait vraiment amusant!

Teachers are very kind and give me a lot of work. It is nice! I am here to practice a lot! My private teacher is Gary Garbatini and I go to the Carl Schroeder's class (arranger of Chick Corea). Others teachers are also very impressives!
However, I was a little disapointed about the different levels of playing of few students. Sometimes, it is not easy to find guys who can play like profesionals, but I do not mind because the most important is to do a continous and finest work. Nevertheless, some students are amazing!...
Last saturday, Steve Gadd was in L.A! (photos) http://www.intrepidsoftware.com/gadd/news. He gave a free master-classin West-Hollywood. The show was excellent! And surprise: there was Marcus Miller (photo) in the attendance. http://www.marcusmiller.com/ I will maybe meet him one day because my roommate knows very well a friend of him!...
Yesterday, (Oct. 12nd), I went to a studio in Hollywood to do a casting. The Rotary Fundation wants to make a commercial and asked me if I wanted to do it. I said yes. Actually, it was very funny!...
