Il a ete le batteur de Franck Zappa entre 1981 et 1988, et il a egalement joue avec le groupe d'Allan Holdsworth entre 1982 and 1998. Chad est egalement en tournee depuis 2000 avec le 1er batteur de Zappa: (avant Vinnie Colaiuta): Terry Bozzio. En tout cas, il a donne un master class au M.I. incroyable le samedi 3 decembre.(photo) Et c'est presque s'il nous demandait l'autorisation de jouer tellement ce musicien est humble... grande lecon de musique et d'humilite!...

J'ai pris un peu de retard dans la redaction du blog car les semaines ont ete chargees depuis Thanksgiving. J'ai realise le rapport que je devais faire pour le Rotary et j'ai egalement enregistre un demo avec le groupe "Wickers". C'est le groupe de Max, le fils de Jennifer, ma collocataire et d'Erik "Monsieur B" (prononcer Biiii), l'un de mes autres collocataires. Les compositions sonnent vraiment bien!
Et puis, j'ai egalement pas mal pratique mes poignets. Je suis reste au M.I. de 9h30 jusqu'a 23h certains jours. Lever tot et coucher tard en resume...

Jeudi 8 decembre, j'ai ete au Catalina Jazz Club avec des etudiants qui sont au M.I. ecouter le trio du pianiste Gonzalo Rubalcaba. http://www.catalinajazzclub.com/

J'etais tres bien place! (mais le club n'est pas immense non plus...) A la fin du concert, les musiciens sont passes derriere nous pour regagner les loges et Stanley Clarke m'a donne une grande claque sur l'epaule! J'ai ete le voir 1/4 d'heure apres car il buvait un verre au bar. Ce grand monsieur est tres sympa et tres humble en tout cas (encore un autre tiens!...) (photo)

Autre nouvelle marrante, j'ai encore vu des animaux. Je me suis leve un matin et j'ai trouve un coyote tout hideux en train de dormir sur le tapis de la terrasse exterieure, ainsi qu'un putois un soir qui rodait dans le jardin a cote de la terrasse. (photo) C'est vraiment la nature a Hollywood!

Le vendredi de cette semaine, j'ai vu mon ami Jeffrey. Ca faisait longtemps que je ne l'avait pas vu. Ca m'a fait bien plaisir en tout cas...

Et Samedi 10 decembre, je suis alle au QG de la LAPD (la police de Los Angeles) pour du faire du volontariat via le Rotary. J'ai distribue des jouets a + de 1500 enfants des familles defavorisees des alentours. Le Rotary a egalement donne des fonds pour que ces enfants puissent avoir des jouets pour Noel... C'etait vraiment sympa de voir les grands yeux de ces tous petits recevoir des jouets du Pere Noel. Ferris, le president du Club etait present avec sa femme et nous a pris avec Monsieur le maire de L.A., Antonio Villaraigosa, qui est d'origine Mexicaine. Le lendemain, dimanche 11 decembre, j'ai ete dinner a Redondo Beach chez Vicki Radel, qui est responsable des boursiers du Rotary a Los Angeles. (photo)
Mais la soiree n'etait pas finie car je me suis rendu ensuite plus tard dans la soiree au dinner de Noel organise par le Rotary Club d'Hollywood au restaurant Tam O'Shanter. L'ambiance etait tres bonne, un groupe de chanteurs a capella a interprete des chants de noel. J'etais assis a la meme table que Don Riedel qui m'a fait rire toute la soiree. (photos)

I am late in my blog because the last weeks were very busy since Thanksgiving! I wrote the report for the Rotary and also had recorded a cd demo with the band "Wickers". It is the band of Max, Jennifer's son, and Erik "Monsieur B" another housemate of mine. The compositions sound very good! And, I also practiced a lot my wrists. I stayed in M.I. from 9:30 a.m until 11:00 p.m some days. To resume: I woke up early and went to bed late...

On Thursday Decembre 8th, I went to Catalina Jazz Club with friends from M.I. I listened to the pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba's trio. http://www.catalinajazzclub.com/

The seat I had was very close to the stage! (and the club is not very big) At the end of the show, the musicians went to the backstage and walked behind us. And Stanley Clarke gave me a pat on the back! 15 minutes later, I went to speak with him close to the bar. He is very kind and very humble (another one!...) (photos)

An other funny news: I saw again some animals. One morning, when I woke up, I saw an ugly coyote sleeping on the sun porche's carpet, and also a skunk in the garden.

On this friday, Jeffrey came at home with his girlfriend. I haven't seen him since a long time, I was very happy to see him...

On Saturday Decembre 10th, I was volunteering with Carola for the annual LAPD community Holiday Party. The Rotary Club of Hollywood gave a financial contribution to purchase toys for the blind children. Over 1500 children and their parents attended this event. I was great to see all the eyes of all these children with the toys and taking photos with Santa Claus. Ferris, the president of the Club was present with his wife Debbie and took a photo of us with the mayor of L.A., Antonio Villaraigosa, who has mexican origins. The day after, on Sunday Decembre 11th, I went to Redondo Beach to Vicki Radel's house. Vicki is responsable of the scholars in the District 5280. (photo) I met some others scholars. We had a nice afternoon.
But for me, the evening continued because I went right after to the Christmas party of the Rotary Hollywood Club! I had a fabulous time at Tam O'Shanter, it is a very good restaurant. The atmosphere was very agreeable. A band of singers sung christmas songs very well. (I was sitting at the same table of Don Riedel who made me laught a lot all the evening.)
