Encore un concert genial! / Another great show!

Hier midi, je suis alle faire une presentation pour le Rotary Club de West L.A./Brentwood. J'ai rejoint mon parrain Benedikt et nous avons ete accueillis (tres tres chaleureusement) par Joy Dell, qui m'avait invite, et les autres membres du club au Restaurant "Chez Mimi". C'est un restaurant francais tres bien et tres confortable. Le Rotary Club de West L.A./Brentwood est un petit club, mais ses membres sont tres sympathiques et l'ambiance qui y regne est excellente. Ma presentation fut meilleure que la premiere. Apres ca, Benedikt m'a ramene a Hollywood et m'a montre quelques lieux ou ont ete tournes les films "Pretty woman" et "Pulp Fiction"... amusant!

Le soir meme, un copain italien du M.I. m'appelle sur mon cellulaire:
- Heeey! Aleeeexeee! aw are youeeee duuude? Haie goeee to daa Catalina ineee ouaneee aweureee, do you wanteee to commee wive miiii? (traduction car l'accent Italien, c'est pas evident: Hey Alex, je vais au Catalina club dans une heure, veux-tu venir avec moi?)
- Mouais, pourquoi pas... qui joue ce soir buddy?
- Des petits nouveaux qui joue tres bien!
- Ok, mais qui???
- Y'a Bob Franceschini au sax tenor!
- Mmmmhh, mouais. Jamais entendu parler... encore un Italien si je comprends bien... Et c'est qui a la rythmique?
- Victor Wooten (basse), Mike stern (guitare) et Dave Weckl (batterie)
- Bouge pas j'arrive!...

Le concert a ete grand!! On ne pouvait pas etre mieux place. (a moins d'etre sur scene...)
Il faut dire que les petits nouveaux sont pas si nouveaux que ca!
On ne presente pas Mike stern, (photo au bar) qui fut le petit protege de Miles Davis.
Le sax Bob Fransechini a joue avec Kenny Washington, Marcus Miller, Omar Hakim, George Benson, Woody Shaw, Kenny Kirkland, Eddie Palmieri, Michel Camilo...
Victor Wooden (photo) a joue notamment avec Bela Fleck, Branford Marsalis, Chick Corea, Dave Matthews, Prince...

Bref, apres ca, on est alle discuter avec eux. Ils etaient un peu fatigues car ils arrivaient d'une tournee au Mexique. Mais c'est vraiment fou de voir comment ces grands musiciens sont abordables et discutent avec tout le monde en buvant une biere...


Yesterday at noon, I did a presentation at the Rotary Club of West L.A./Brentwood. I met my host counselor Benedikt at 11:30 a.m and we went together to the restaurant "Chez Mimi". It is a very good french restaurant. Very nice and comfortable. The Rotary Club de West L.A./Brentwood is a little club. But Joy Dell, who invited me, and the others members are very kind and the atmosphere is excellent. My presentation was better than the first one I did. After the presentation, Benedikt took me to M.I. and showed me some places where movies like "Pretty woman" et "Pulp Fiction" were filmed... funny!

Yesterday evening, a friend from M.I. called me on my cell:
- Heeey! alex, I go to Catalina in 1 hour, do you want to come with me?
- Yes, why not Buddy... Who play tonight?
- New musicians but they play well!
- Ok, but who???
- There is a saxophone player called Bob Franceschini!
- Mmmmhh, yes. Never ear about him before... another Italian guy if I understand well... Who is the rhythm section?
- Victor Wooten (bass), Mike stern (guitar) et Dave Weckl (drums)
- Keep a seat for me!...

The show was great!! I must say that the "new musicians" are not so new!

Anyway, after the show, we went to meet the musicians. They were tired because they were on tour in Mexico the day before. But it is crazy how these great guys are ok to speak and drink a beer with you!!...
